... November, we felt quite privileged to be able to be there for this too. Interestingly when they put in the tomb for the unknown soldier in about 1995, they had invited people to put poppies on it. The queues were so long that people had time to discover that the poppies fitted very well into the gaps between the huge plaques listing the fallen from Crimea through to current peace keeping missions, that line both sides of the upper balcony. We haven't disappeared, and yes we are still pedalling! Thanks to those of you who gave us subtle nudges this week on awaiting the next blog instalment. Paul is currently on a mini writer's hiatus, and he's setting up our tent for the final bush camping night. Needless to say, that is one memorable experience I will not miss terribly. ... cockatoos. We have several of those noisy buggers hanging around the hotel, I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two more beside the road tomorrow!

Before dinner there was lunch. Never tired of eating we stopped at the local supermarket and picked up a couple of ready made salads for a roadside picnic. We found a lovely spot down by the old mill stream, just upwind of the roadside latrine! Desperate to hit Canberra before night fall ...

... our AIRBNB flat is not on the official city maps. We are lucky to catch the Canberra Tourist Information Office before it closes, and the assistant helpfully prints out a Google map for us with all the directions. Miami, take note!
