Kerikeri, New Zealand lucasstrobel... name was Irene. All very extravagant for 4 $10 boards but at least they got back and our guilty consciences were relieved! The rest of the week was far less exciting and crime filled and we spent our time getting Nicole's place back into shape, getting me back into shape on a horse, chasing goats around the place and cycling 15 km to simply check our email! The horses were in pretty shocking state in general with the excepting of the pretty boy Misty who's their prized ...
Kerikeri, North Island, New Zealand ciaradoonerush... cool. There's so much to do! haha... We had some turbulance along the way, but I quite enjoyed it - made the flight more exciting! Oh, almost wasn't allowed to fly - as I only had a flight 'in' to New Zealand, when I checked in they needed me to buy a ticket 'out' so I had to go and buy a ticket to leave NZ. Which was a pain in the **** because if I had booked in through Virgin Blue it would only have been about 40 quid, but as ...
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand angiehug... looks better looking back. So having to retrace my steps to Kerikeri was a bit disappointing but I did it. I put in some extra Hill climbing effort as well to try and counter the fish and chips a little or as my friend so politely put it I'll come home looking like a barrel. Otherwise all is well, I'm even trying to remember to put sun tan lotion on my ears.
Kerikeri, North Island, New Zealand theroad2... half way (it was good). * I cycled, it was quite alot of uphill, so hopefully this burnt off some of the eggs on toast. * I'm staying at the YHA which is OK but a bit small and they don't have my tax code which was sent to them. * Signed up for day sail tomorrow * Chilled. Random observation: Cycling you see a lot of road kill, in various states of laying, smeared, mashed or spread on the roads, this ...
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand theroad2... Reinga. By Pato Who those that coursed us because of our polynesian experience... here we are in winter: cold and rainy. But we have to ...
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand patoysandrix... and all by myself! I'd wanted to see this Cape so badly. Sure, it would have been nice to be able to have shared this moment with someone, but nevermind. Nothing else to do except get on with it and have a bloody good time anyway! Which I was having :) As the two oceans collided, the waves were massive and I could hear the almighty roar as they crashed together. The Tasman Sea was a beautiful turquoise-blue colour and the Pacific, a deeper blue. The sun was glistening on ...
Kerikeri, North Island, New Zealand phileasbeck... a couple of special nights. One night we had a BBQ and playing drinking games and then last night we ventured into Kerikeri to check out their saturday night entertainment. It was a good night and the majority of people in the pub were actually from our hostel. I finished at New World on Saturday 10th May, I was sad to leave the people I worked with over the last month but it was time to move on. That night I went out with the girls from my ...
Kerikeri, New Zealand tripofalifetime... for Nachos, we made our way back to where we would be staying for the next week. A brief stop off was made at Connie and Malcom´s house (where although they don´t actually live at the moment as they are currently looking after an old hotel for the owners, the cats still reside). Dad had taken over the task of feeding the cats over the time he was there whenever he drove past as it saved Connie a journey. We then arrived at the Old Hotel where we would be staying and after meeting ...
Bay of Islands, New Zealand felicityb... is not too long before we see our first accident - a large truck carrying vegetables has been in an accident and it looked pretty serious. It really slows traffic down and we proceed slowly. It is intimidating in the drivers seat as you feel as though you are sitting on the centre line and when cars approach you it appears as though they are coming right at you. When this happens the tendency for the driver is to move further left ...
