And I thought the volcanic island would be scary
... the island I thought some one had thrown up as that is what it smelled like to me. Then I clued in that it was the island itself emitting the rotten eggs/vomit smell. While on the island we saw what they call the sulphur chimneys. They are small but bright yellow chimneys that have been formed by the sulphur emitted through various cracks that vent the gases and liquid bubbling away just below the surface on White Island. ... Ocean!! Very exciting! However!! Those who know me well and those who done't will probably know that I am terrified and I mean freakin' terrified of wobbly boats!! so! the only way to the White Island wharf thingy is by rubber dinghy! Yes you heard right! Frikckin' rubber frickin' dinghy!!.But! I always think things will be ok and I always at least try. (more in a minute)

Today we were back on the road again, with a long way to go. We drove across to Hamilton and filled up on petrol and food before re-joining the SH1 to Cambridge where we refused to pay 50c for a toilet had a brief look at some shops and bought ourselves a subway.
