After almost 8 hours on the road we finally made it to Escanaba and our lodging for the night: Sunset Lodge, an independent locally owned motel. They were very welcoming of us and our hounds. A late night bite at Hudsons Bar and Grill and fast asleep. The next morning we woke and did some work before hitting the road around 10:30a to St ...

Farmer's markets are terrific in this area-full of fresh vegetables, flowers, decadent baked items and local craftsmen. Picked up organic cherry bratwursts to try at some point during our trip. Brats, beer, and cheese are the rage in this part of the US. Had a great time. Always sad to say goodbye, but we have other roads to travel. Life is ...

... this late in the season, but a very nice little pub in town, the Cornerstone, has been feeding me and keeping me entertained. The first night here I stopped in to get some food and sat at the bar next to an elderly woman. She turned out to be Linda, the unofficial 'mayor' of Baileys Harbor, who knows everyone and everything. She sort of took me under her wing that first night, telling me where to go and what to see and has checked in with me each evening ...
