Day 49 - Planes, Cars, and a Cold, Rainy Beach

Today is the day we finally left the wind tunnel called The Dalles. The Columbia Gorge was "gorgeous", but The Dalles was just too industrial, and because of the gorge, it was always windy threre. That might be great for windsurfing, but not so good for motorcycles. Now back in car and driving interstate 5 again towards yet another town called Salem (not the witch town, that's in New England) we will then head west and pick up the Pacific highway 101 to take in the sights as we head to LA.Chris is doing an excellent job at driving whilst I read and ...

... areas. Furthermore, 101 is not the route to be taken if you are in a hurry. Speed limit is posted at 55 mph; however over 78% of the time the limit is posted between 30 mph and 45 mph as one bend ends and the next turn begins. Maneuvering through this type of long and winding road (thank you Paul) on a motorcycle is truly exhilarating. As in life, one good turn leads to another. This means that often your line of forward sight is ...
