... the Bartram Country Club and Mark showed us some of the local area sights including the gates of the beautiful Augusta National Golf Club and downtown Augusta, which is pretty cool.
This trip was a bit of a blast from the past and confirmed we can no longer hang with the big dogs and function properly. Back to the comfortable role of grandparents as we head north to spend couple of days with our son Shawn and his beautiful family in New Bern, NC.
... distinct regional cultures. It’s cool to see, and I think this is the reason I loved the south so much. The whole thing feels like you are cruising through a movie set, 50-100 years ago. I would highly recommend going to Papa Joe’s too for anyone visiting the States. They have it every May, this was it’s 5th year. The people, food, music and venue are fabulous – a true Southern experience! ...
... to remember. Through the packed and rounded pews, the hanging balconies scattered with folks, out to the wide hallway forming a ringed perimeter where ladies bounced their babies in the open doorways to quiet them.
I have my seat in that circle. I hold open a small space in the vastness that arcs away from me. Just as I did earlier in the day, on the drive up, coming straight from Savannah to the church. Straight except for the hour I spent huddled in a field south ...
... It looked like this for hours, but in my defense my camera equipment was prepared and ready to go. I have my priorities!
Regardless of what we pack, we always seem to have what we need. Our challenge in traveling has never been taking enough—it's been bringing back everything that we left with. Let's hope that losing streak is broken on this trip.
