... we weren't sure what kind of weather we might encounter along our trip. Totally came in handy on this part and I felt for the other tourists who were out on the ice in shorts.

On the way through Banff, we did the requisite stop by the Fairmont Lake Louise to take in the sights and people watch. Being one of our longer driving days, we were happy to get to a motel in Radium Hot Springs and call it a day.

When we get back to our vehicle we notice a car not far from ours with Iowa plates on it. I comment to Jim that they are quite a distance from home. The people return to their vehicle and we recognize that they were also touring the site. We are in our vehicle and they in theirs. I have connected to the internet with my tablet via my smartphone which is my hotspot. Oh how I love technology. ...

... ití dlouhé kruté zimy. Po cestě bylo hned několik cedulí upozorňující na vyšší riziko střetu s medvědem. Správa národních a provinčních parků to tu však má perfektně zmonitorováno. Přesně se ví, co medvědi který měsíc v roce nejvíce jedí, kde ty dotyčné bobule rostou, na kterých svazích atd. Na základě toho je v mnohých údolích nebo i jednotlivých svazích napříč kanadskými Rockies ...

... to make some fabulous fajitas… which attracted a nearby caribou to sniff out our campsite. No worries – just checked us out and wandered off. Chris also fried some bacon on the fire… mmm.
