The rain dance everyone in California was doing brought results. It poured hard Friday night and most of Saturday morning but Di and I braved it to take the ferry into the city for the day. Our trip took 45 minutes - it's a big bay - and we disembarked at the Ferry Building, the terminal for all ferries that travel across the Bay.

... the delectable feast we had last night: Artichokes Dianne - marinated and grilled whole artichokes (definitely the best I have ever had) and Oysters Dave - BBQ'ed oysters with 3 different sauces. To die for!

The preceding night, Dianne made a citrus Prosecco salad and a crab linguini for my birthday dinner, followed by a raspberry/blueberry/lemon curd tart with the marscapone cheese we made with Misti. I definitely must go for a bike ride tomorrow or I will be paying ...

... thing and settled into a life of pampered indolence. They wander about Dianne's garden paradise musing over the perfect spot for their next nap, all the while studiously pretending the other feline doesn't exist.

We have a lovely late long lunch in the "blue room" in the garden my first afternoon, where there's an ideal combination of shade and sun, surrounded by plants just dying to break out into a full California ...
