... Dan Day of Dan Day Racing is competing in the Dunlop series
so we caught up with him, his family and service crew. He is doing an amazing
job in his first year of competition at this level.
The Townsville track is really spectator friendly with
viewing spots at all areas of the track and grassy hills to sit on complete
with comfy beanbags! You are even opposite the pit lane so can see all the

... in reasonable weather. The island it self has a population of 2500 and it takes about 1/2 hour onthe bus to go from one end to the other.there are beaches on all sides go tou cab get a protected area which ever way the wind blows. Sat A bit of a lay day. Kath caught up with the washing then we headed into the CBD. Its a bit like Newcastle with lots of vacant shops.suspect they have been causalities to big shopping ...

... not what I had hoped for. It is a sprawling, flat, industrial/services based town. It is the largest city in tropical Queensland with about 200 000 residents. Townsville is not a pretty place.....until you check it out from Castle Hill! Castle Hill is a heritage listed 286m high pink granite monolith (apparently is just short of being called a mountain). You can either walk (or run) up the road or hike up the 'goat track' ...

... of the lodge, we headed down the high street and got shouted at by a highly intoxicated chap!! We put our heads down and marched on! He got louder and louder as we walked away from him! We returned to the lodge after about an hour and made use of the facilities for dinner and spent the evening chilling out. Even though our activities for the day were cut short due to the weather we still enjoyed our first full day in Townsville. ...
