      ... I’m tremendously pleased to see how Arubans incorporate these people in their carnival activities. There was the keyboard player who was hoisted on stage in the Caiso and Soca competition, the two boys in their wheel chair in the San Nicolas Children’s Parade, and now a group that is absolutely enjoying marching and dancing to the road music.

      ... time, there is little stress. Time is taken to discuss the exact spot for additional parts, stones are glued one by one to patches, as if it concerns a precision clockwork. How heavy a costume will be is a matter of waiting till it's finished. The adrenaline during the march will help not to feel the weight too much.

      ... days.

      Here is a little warning though for the area where we were- avoid jogging! When I went one morning for a run, I was threatened by a gang of 4 dogs in the neighborhood and I was scared enough that I had to find myself a stick to use just in case. Later, Julie told me that Aruba doesn't have a decent animal welfare law and so most of the wild dogs and cats are put to sleep ...

      ... pounds the coast. The island prison sits on a bluff overlooking the beautiful beach and ocean. We drove along the coast here until we arrived at a lovely beach at the southeast corner of Aruba, Baby Beach.

      This picturesque beach is popular with families as the water is protected and calm. The turquoise water shimmered in the sunshine. We found a tree where I could cower in the shade while Annie, Marilyn and Roger went swimming. A ...

      ... me, thought about having a beer in the airport but at $9 I thought do some meditating/deep breathing for free. We arrived at the hotel and actually completely unpacked our bags for the first time in 3 months.

      Next we were going to scope out the shops across the street but were intercepted by staff who told us there was a manager's cocktail hour. I ended up winning a dinner for 2 in the raffle...yippeeee!
