We had another travel day yesterday. An early morning bus Banff to Calgary, then a 2and a1/2 hour wait for our 1 and 1/2 hour flight to Seattle. 3 hours in Seattle airport then a 20 minute flight to Bellingham. Not necessarily a bad thing really as it gave us some much needed recovery time to get over our viruses. On the Alaskan ferries today. Not sure we whether we will have Internet coverage from the ferries so might have a bit of catching up to do on this blog in a few ...
... do with history, culture, first nation people, wildlife ... you name it, she knew it. Our tour for the cruise ships cost $80/person; for us peons from the ferry, it was $15. Fifteen dollars for a six hour tour, including admissions to the museums and other sites. Who says there aren't any bargains in Alaska. I would go back to Sitka, but I would go by land.

... Arch border crossing. We had all of our documentation out ready so we joined the queue with everyone else & waited.... It only took about half an hour to get through the lineup of cars & it really didn't feel that long. Once we were at the booth the US border guy asked us a few questions, scanned our passports & within 5 minutes we were on our way again. Easy peasy. ... of large beautiful fresh water lakes interspersed throughout the hilly, often mountainous greenery. There are huge incredible trees everywhere, narrow lanes along mountain hillsides falling down to the sea and flowers, shrubs and flowering trees I've never seen before except in pictures found in seed catalog's or northern landscape books.
