    Stopped for the night

Another 6 hour drive and we had to just call it a day to recharge.

Days Inn was all that was "pet friendly" but actually a nice place, right on the lake.

Tomorrow, we plan to head south for a place to spend a couple of days and then toward Columbus, Ohio.

Goal is to be home by Saturday to re-charge before next Monday....

Day 2: Cheboygan, Michigan - Where to?

After driving through much of Michigan, to include the wild turkey and elk capitals of the state, we arrived for the night in Cheboygan. It was originally an Ojibwe Indian settlement and stands on the northern reaches of Lake Huron. Yesterday's drive was nice and our tour along the back roads and country lanes of Michigan alternated between fields of corn and sugar beets and stands of evergreens. So where to? First to Mackinac Island with Shepler's Ferry. Boarding ...

Tomorrow will be a down day, with no activities planned. I am certain Chris will take some time to show us around Charlevoix, and I’ll make certain I have my camera with me. Wednesday is a busy day, with a trip up to famous Mackinac Island AND the premier of Sharknado 3! I’m not sure how we’ll fit all of this excitement into one day, but we’re sure going to try!
    ‘Night, all!

... every summer since that time. Once the area was excavated the buildings that stood on the site were reconstructed based on the forensic evidence of what once stood there.

Our final stop for the day was a Tour of the Retired US Coast Guard Ice Breaker Mackinac. This original Ice Breaker was hastily constructed in 1943-44 with the purpose of breaking ice on the Great Lakes to allow delivery ...

Today was one of the most amazing days so far! We started off with a yummy, home cooked breakfast. The shuttle picked us up and delivered us to the Star Line Ferry for our trip over to Mackinack Island. Since the late 1800's vehicles have been banned on this island. You either travel by horse, bike, or foot. They do allow airplanes to land and golf carts on the golf course. It was one of the most beautiful, unique, easy trails we have ridden. It is 8 ...
