    ... humid) and we were on the way to Destin which was halfway between Clearwater and New Orleans. It was a 6 hour drive so I wasn't particularly looking forward to it... Clearwater was a great stop, it was fun having the dog and good company in the apartment and the beach was ok. It probably was a bit too touristy for me. A lot of billboards and signs and American chavs possibly. The sea was lovely but the apartment made up for it and at least we got to visit the restaurant ...

    ... back into the soil, returning it to the ocean.
    The white mangrove live on high ground and to be honest I haven't looked them up!! Thought this was all very interesting......and no Rachelle , Vern hasn't written in the blog yet , but it's coming.!! Stay tuned...
    We hiked the nature trail on the island and then settled ourselves on to the beach. Was so looking forward to seeing some wildlife, but no, no armadillos,gopher ...

    ... as soon as we boarded, so we dropped our carryons, and headed to Cagney's for lunch. Started with a Shrimp Cocktail, for Dad.

    Our room was very spacious. and so was the balcony. There were 2 regular chairs, and a small cocktail type table, as well as 2 loungers on that balcony...score for us!

    ... the 12 day fair, so the horses had already left. There was an exotic animal zoo with llamas, alpacas, a bear, and a giraffe. My favorite was a large building dedicated to judged fine arts, arts and crafts, aquariums, and botanicals.

    Greg and I watched two shows: 'Kachunga and the Alligator' and 'Hollywood Racing Pigs'. Each show lasted about 30 minutes, which was long enough.

    But the largest area was taken up by the midway. So many rides, ...

    Well I've been planning my trip now for 6 weeks. People keep asking me when I'm leaving. Well I know it's sometime in August. Shooting for the first week around the 3rd, but truthfully it depends on the flights. I'm searching for the cheapest place to fly in right now and all I'm getting is in the thousand dollar range; so here I am waiting. They seem to get cheaper as the time nears. so I'll wait a little longer to purchase my tickets. Trying to find a hostel in each place to ...
