      ... of coming home. We have gained a new appreciation not only for the wonders of the world but also for the simple pleasures of daily life at home. The walks to Starbucks and evenings spent paddling on the Willamette with friends.
      We look at the pictures and manage to envy the people in them, despite the fact that they are us. We look at the places and smile at the memories, blessed to share them between the two of us. And life goes on......

      ... stopped at a gorge and horsetail falls. We continued on to the Bridge of the Gods at Cascade Locks. A big steel bridge over the Columbia River. Our next important sight to see was Mount Hood. You follow the road right around the base, so we had many spots to stop and take pictures of our first glimpses of snow.       ... We met a lovely couple in Deschutes brewery, who hatted to us for over an hour about where to go, our trip, our lives, they were so lovely. After them, everyone who heard about our trip had hints and tips and advice to give. We have a busy few weeks ahead!! There wasn't as much history to check out here as there was in Seattle, but there was a lot of culture to check ...

      ... hop a bit and there were many big juicy ripe berries for the picking. Joanna kept hoping we wouldn't se a body...it WAs a bit creepy...a sleeping bag had washed up and some various unidentifiable....objects shall we say... ...we got our blackberries for Joanna's famous "BLACKBERRY CRISP". We did however compromise BOTH our hats in the process...well those and Joanna's I shirt...I think after eating dessert tonight we all would say it was worth it!! ...
