Saturday, July 11, 2015. PCT day 83. Miles 1289.4-1310.4 Today was a tough day for me. For starters, I did not get good sleep last night at the Bratten's (trail angel's) home. There were about 10 other PCT hikers day and I slept in a very uncomfortable bed. I took the 6am shuttle back to the trail and had breakfast there. From the get go, I felt ...

... The sunrise was magnificent this morning. From the cliff where I was camped, I had an amazing view of the valley below shrouded in clouds, a total cloud inversion. The sun arose from the mountains on the other side of the valley. That was my view as I had breakfast. My tarp, ground cloth, and bug mesh were wet due to the condensation. Then I saw it move and was intrigued. Of-course I took pictures. The monsoon clouds began to form by 10am. By 13:30 the thunder began. By 14:15, the sky darkened. By 1500, it was pouring steadily and moderately till 18:00. It soaked ...

Wednesday, July 8, 2015. PCT day 80. Miles 1224.4-1251.4 I did another 25 miler today. I have to admit, tho, that I am tired. It rained for most of the day starting at noon. As I write this at 9pm the clouds still linger and threaten more precipitation. The terrain was mellow today, facilitating big miles. There are so many pine trees here. The mountains are plastered ...

... State Park in Oregon, before heading to Crater Lake National Park. Well, it had to happen; no sites were available in Crater Lake campgrounds. So, we unhooked the car and left the RV near the store and toured the Park. This is the deepest lake in the contiguous States and the purest water in the world. Formed by an imploding volcano, Crater Lake is quite the sight to see. I will let some pictures tell the story of brilliant blue reflective waters framed ...
