... found a few new species of birds not far from our campsite. We went for a run/walk around Manzanita Lake which was nice and a campfire to end a great day. The drive through the park the next day was pretty, getting up to 8,500ft. After seeing some bubbling pools it was time to go, not much else to ...

Hiked a solid 22 miles with an amazing .2 mile detour to the Terminal Geyser. We also passed right by the Lassen peak and the Boiling Lake. ... What do you think Suzi, should I pick up another dog along the way? On a bad note my cycling computer died this morning. I guess I should have gotten around to getting that button battery, I've checked all of the roadside stores no luck. It is a little disconcerting because my food, water, and lodging stops are all based on altitude, and distance. At least I've had a week of riding to get used to the slow speeds, so I was pretty accurate on my planing ...

... pretty much took up 2 hours so we were right on schedule.

We hit trail head in the right direction and our happy, energetic group of 29 girls and 5 leaders was off for a little back country adventure. We did one last pack re-check, cinched up their packs and wished them the best. After what seemed like 5 steps the bright eyes and energy was zapped out from most of them. Water was ...
