    ... the gold rush of California. In the middle of no where, this place was once a large city until depletion of resources and fire rendered it done just before WW2. Due to California's crippling tolls on freight a lot of the buildings were still furnished which added to the ambience as we walked around the deserted homes and businesses of this former metropolis and there was something saddening about the emptiness of a once vibrant, charismatic area.     ... a shower and change we headed out for dinner and found Pearl's Deluxe Burger Bar. We'd decided we wanted good, fast food and we were not disappointed - it was perfect! The customer service in SF has been fantastic and once again we were served by friendly, helpful staff.

    Even though we are working for our board, Christmas means plenty of excuses and opportunities to take time off for fun stuff! On Christmas day Kirsten and Ron left for Kirsten's parents place in Oakland while we were enjoying our lie in. To our surprise when we came in the kitchen there was a stocking from Santa to us!     We went to Napa and visited the Benzinger winery, not to be confused with he much more famous Beringer Winery, not only are they a famous biodynamic and organic winery, they make very good wine and there was a playground for Zach. Zach wasn’t interested though so Chris stayed with Zach and I went and tried some wines.
