Made my way back to Willmar and for the first time on this trip, I went shopping at a mall. This mornings first mission was gathering all our bits and packing them. Amazing how much things can spread when four kids have dig through to find their stuff.

Today was a loooong day in the car. We were really happy with the DVD player in the car as we left the B&B at 10:30 and arrived at 5:30, we had two brief stops, one for gas and one for food. Did I mention loooong???

The scenery was beautiful, rolling farmland, corn fields and many quintessential red barns.

... in about 3 minutes, and goes up 25 to 30 times daily during busy parts of the shipping season. The span is about 390 feet (120 meters). As ships pass, there is a customary horn-blowing sequence that is copied back. Long-short-long-short means to raise the bridge, and Long-short-short is a friendly salute.

... in the mid 80's and not a lot of traffic. Really a nice day's riding. Stopped at a couple of tourist markers to get a feel for this area and fund out that this has been a very interesting area over the years. One marker I stopped at commemorated a forest fire in 1977 that destroyed a huge section of the forest up here.
