I find it hard to avoid some latent anxiety each time I venture onto a new section of trail. This time I was obsessing over the multiple stream and river fords ahead of me. Trail builders in the mid-Atlantic and South have the good sense to build bridges over water; the folks in Maine must think it builds character to wade. This section between …

... headed into Greenville for some shopping and some lunch. When we were at lunch we spotted a chipmunk it was cute. When we got back to the lake mum decided to get an up close look at it and slipped over. The next day we woke up early so we could pack the cars and make our way back to camp but not without stopping for the best bqq cheese burgers ever it was called Spring creek barbecue cook house. I’ll need to experimentally replicate the results a few more times to be sure).

          Now to find our ride.

Knowing we’d need some way to get ...

          We SAW MOOSE!

Moose at dusk on Moosehead Lake!

Despite the rain, the fog and the mosquitoes, this was a great little place to explore and we saw MOOSE.....

We did however miss the Aurora Borealis over ...

It often takes seeing the big picture to understand the beauty in small things. That is what we discovered this morning as we boarded Jack's Air Service in Greenville, Maine to see the colors of fall. Caroline, Thomas, Mark and I made plans to take a seaplane ride to view the changing of the leaves, which happened to be peaking this particular weekend. For 30 minutes we traveled around Moosehead Lake in a single prop Cessna ...
