... folks by my post yesterday, sorry. We are still at Coralville Lake. Yesterday we went sight-seeing in all those places. Tomorrow we head for Portage, WI. ... a SUV and drove away. After dinner we continued our shopping at a local store and spent more money on some items than we normally would, oh well, we are on vacation!

On the way back to Coralville, we traveled through Riverside, IA, the future birthplace of James Tiberius Kirk, captain of the star ship Enterprise! They have a museum which has a time capsule which is to be open on Mar 22, 2228 (the birthdate). They have a Trek Fest every June and several ...

... the high levee built in 1955 to create the reservoir and thus Coralville Lake. We had to drive across the spill way to get to the campground area. We are right on the Iowa River. In 1993 and 2008 IA had so much rain that the lake flooded and spilled over the spill way and flooded the campground. Luckily it hasn't rained that much while we have been here.

After spending about 6 hours here (in a 2
hour parking zone taking up nearly 2 spaces) -but the Sheriff did wave
to us - e moved on to the Amana colonies where the only available
camping place was a commercial one but rather cheaper than most as it
was only $34 and surprise, we got a 50% discount with our Passport
America card. It was really huge but nice.

Lazy Day

... the brief time we are all together here. They tried to teach me how to play uker today. Uker is a card game that the kids I went to high school with tried to teach me 50 years ago. I didn't pick it up then and I didn't pick it up today.

Now it's time to get ready for bed. Bob did the dishes while I wrote this, now we're both finished. Hope you all have a great day tomorrow and I will try to have something more interesting and some pictures tomorrow night.
