    ... The other two cooking were also a father - son team, so everything went smoothly.
    Our day started around 8:30 am with preparing the meat for cooking, and completing all the pre-cooking prep work. Had a quick lunch of fish tacos about 12:30 and then started the actual cooking process. Fires hot by 3 PM and the beef was on to cook.

    ... the billiard room and the dining hall were magnificent rooms - and far more tasteful than I imagined. Some of the sculpture was wonderful and sat with the modern furnishings so well. I would have loved to have been a guest here! We also were amazed by the indoor Roman bath, which is still used. We wandered around the gardens, admired more of the artefacts and flowers before catching the bus back. I ate a Hearst burger, from their ranch, ...

    ... because there was no a/c), was a startling 107 degrees. Rich farmlands contrasted with the otherwise dry climate and field after field of dry, golden grass. As we traveled, clouds started to gather and by the time we reached the coast it had cooled down a startling 40 degrees, back to the 60's.
