Wouldn't you know it, it is National Monuments Day and we didn't have to pay 12 Euros to visit...we have been very lucky on this trip (well except for Aegean Air...maybe you all should buy their stock??? Their business model might keep all of Greece a float!)

Got to Athens fine and our driver gave us a brief tour of the area. So much history!!!Hotel is the Electra Palace, chose it for the view of the Acropolis...very nice. Got there and the check in clerk said he had a surprise...his buddy next to him leaned over and said "We lost your reservation" with a wink! Our surprise??? They moved us to ...
... Royale service, and I couldn’t resist Champagne with black currant liqueur. I’ve never had one before. My choices were Lobster and Scallop Sausage with Root Vegetables and Citrus Sauce as an appetizer, Venison Saddle with Vegetables and Foie Gras Bread Pudding as a main, and Panna Cotta with Grapefruit Sections in Pink Grapefruit Soup for dessert.
It was kind of fru-fru food but very tasty. And even at the reasonable sounding rate of $25 for lunch, ...
I have never used a bus pass like these so I will keep you posted how they work out.
... in Catskill as well. I had a couple of brief bike rides and a good run with some nice hills, and for dinner Dad cooked pierogi. Jameson had a lot of work with tightening the mast stays, and I got to help with the crowbar too. Finally we were a sailboat again, and we didn’t lose the mast or irreparably damage it (or ourselves…) Success!
