... That drive was incredible. It had the most beautiful views. It was curvy and hilly at times, so I had to really watch my speed. But overall, it was awesome. I think I got some good pictures, but it's one of those places that you really have to see in person to grasp it's full beauty. We stopped at a few overlooks along the way and we got food in Big Sur. Right at the end, when we were going ...

... seem to be very labour intensive . Many people were working in the fields. We took the 101 for a short while then the 154 towards Santa Barbara and stopped at Lake Cachuma and the Bradbury Dam . everything here is named after someone! Our hotel is only a couple of blocks from the beach, harbour and Stearns Wharf where we ate in the aptly named Moby Dick!! Miles today - 237 and the temperature went over 100!! Sunset is getting earlier each ...

I was really falling for Santa Barbara, so it was great to wake up knowing we had another whole day to chill out here. We were all looking forward to moving to our bigger suit later in the day, even if it was only for one night instead of all three. Breakfast next, then a swim, and then dropped the girls and Mike for more shopping while I checked out the marina and somewhere to eat later. There is a really chilled out vibe in Santa Barbara. I saw a star fish just under ...

We left a cloudy, rainy campground this morning and headed for sunshine. We stopped to check out a local roasting company in Los Osos, Slo Roasted Coffee, and talked to a super nice guy who gave us some free coffee samples. We arrived in Santa Barbara just as the final clouds burned off and found ourselves among towering palm trees and beautiful orange tiled roofs nestled between a mountain range and the bright blue water of the Santa Barbara Channel. We made a quick lunch ...

... in the crates. It was hypnotic to watch as they expanded and contracted, still alive and all moving at their individual paces, but also appearing to move as one large mass. We stood and watched for a bit before heading back to the clam bar. Our pager went off, letting us know that our table was ready barely 15 minutes after we had received it, so we headed upstairs to be seated. We ordered oysters to start, which were fine but not great. ...
