... really because the school visit had taken my mind off my approaching skydive! I had wanted to do one for a while and felt like New Zealand was the perfect place and what a better time to do it than on this trip?! The Skydive Taupo company picked us up in a limousine and we were whisked off to the airfield. There were seven of us jumping together that day, so thank god I had moral support from my mates! ... put a stop to this and ever since it has sat closed to the public and doing not a right lot. We got there and found it's very overgrown the island and the house on it seems very run down. It's basically just being left to fall apart really. The guy who bought it, employs 24/7 security for it but other than that the islands empty. We sat on a bench just across from the island watching the bungee for a little while before we booth started feeling the cold. We headed ...

... little ski resort currently enjoying the summer walking season. There are signs everywhere for little walks and we set off in all our fabulous walking gear for a two hour loop trek to some waterfalls. Though still on a come down from skydiving, I was in heaven. A well laid out track through old lava fields, little woodlands, rocky rivers and stunning stretches of mountains where you could see out for 40 miles, it was just lovely. We barely saw other people but made ...

... eruption just about 8 years ago. We were running low on water so we decided to head down from there. It took 3 1/2 hours total for us. It normally takes takes people 7 or more hours to do the whole thing. We found out later that what we did was harder since the bus takes people to a much higher starting point than where you finish and it's easier doing it the other way. Oh well. At least we didn't get stranded.

... the valley towards the Emerald Lakes and Blue Lake. The descent down to the lakes was almost as hard as the ascents, as we basically had to try and bound down the loose rock and scree without falling for a good twenty minutes... let's just say we did fall a few times...! At least it was a fairly soft fall... unless we had lost our footing completely and fallen down the steep ridges either side to our deaths. We are alive to tell the tale! We stopped for our ...
