Walked to the top of the tower, 75 meters above sea level, panoramic views across Provincetown almost across the 44 mile stretch of water to Boston which resembled a skew mirage. Okay so you can't go by Plymouth without stopping in to see where the first people stepped when arriving in the US off the Mayflower. Took some pictures of the replica of the Mayflower and also the Plymouth Rock Memorial... don't know if this was the actual rock or not but I touched it virtually in my pictures. Although we definitely wanted to go into Boston while down this way, we had no idea how much there was to see and do in the city! It really is the birthplace of American independence and I so enjoyed learning about this vital piece of our neighbours' history. I think part of the frustration of these setbacks was the fact we really, really enjoyed our stay on the Cape. Our lodging was perfect: a traditional American hotel with a 70s, retro vibe and a no frills but good value approach. The locals have a long and proud history of exporting their expertise ...
