We followed it up with a dinner and people watching at the Brasserie Resturant de Roode Leeuw with a well rounded selection of Dutch fare. 9/12 After another fantastic breakfast here at 26 Heren Straat with Milo providing the assortment of fruits, cheeses, pastries and the most creamy yoghurt. He said three groups had gone past that morning and he was watching for the water spouts they blow. Apparently it's the tale end of the migration season and in a couple of weeks all the whales will have gone past, heading north.

Originally we had planned to only stay 2 nights in Monterey ad then move on but
1) there was a lot we wanted to see in monterey, and
2) Hotel has a washing machine and dryer for guests for a small charge (about £1.25), which is a big relief as we had packed very light and Neil was running out of shirts...

Anyways, tomorrow I'm going kayaking on the Monterey Bay, and then me and the kitties are heading back to LA. I'm awaiting news of jobs! For now I have to be flexible as everything is up in the ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Casablanca Inn & Bistro Santa Cruz
Everyone Has To Go To The Casablanca!
We always stay at the Casablanca when we visit Santa Cruz. Everything is wonderful from the staff, owners, rooms, service and especially the view! It has a great convenient location, close to the Wharf, Boardwalk, Downtown shopping and the beach. The restaurant has excellent food and the best view in Santa Cruz. I've stayed in several different rooms in my many visits and the thing that is so fun is that every room is uniquely decorated. You have to visit more than once so you can stay in different rooms. I do have to admit that my favorite is the Honeymoon Suite with it's sunken jacuzzi tub and fireplace, but all the rooms are great! Everyone has to go to the Casablanca Motel!
I Have visited the Casa Blanca on several occasions
We have visited the Casa Blanca on several occasions and always had positive and wonderful visits. The ocean view in the rooms are spectacular. The food and service in the restaurant was delightful. We enjoyed the boardwalk (across the street) and have many wonderful memories of the Casa Blanca. The owners have made our trips to Santa Cruz very memorable. I would encourage anyone to stay at the Casa Blanca in Santa Cruz.
A Wonderful Place!
Over the last several years I have been to Santa Cruz several times and I always enjoy staying at the Casa Blanca. The rooms I have stayed in all had incredible views and it is just a walk across the street to the beach, and when you are ready for a fantastic meal you could not do better than to eat at the Casablanca Restaurant, The food was wonderful and so was the service
A romantic Valentines Weekend
My boyfriend and I enjoyed the best weekend ever at the Casa Blanca accross from the beach. Our room had a spectacular ocean view and a cozy fireplace and private balcony. The staff could not have been better, they were very hospitable to all of our request. After a big day surfing we wined and dined ourselves in the Casa Blanca Restaurant.
The service and food was perfection! I would reccomend the Casa Blanca to anyone, its the best place to have romantic weekend and I can't wait to go back!!!
Wouldn't stay there for anything
I made a reservation for two nights for $175 per night. When I called to get a confirmation letter faxed to me, a hand written note said the price for the room was $225. When I called, I spoke with the owner who was rude and wouldn't abide by the previous commitment even though I had a confirmation number and had booked the room with my credit card.
Business practices like that lead me to recommend anyone interested in this hotel keep looking elsewhere.
A Great Place to Stay!!!!
My husaband and I stayed at the Casa Blanca for our honeymoon four years ago and have returned every year since. We have stayed in rooms 5,6, 25 and 26. Each room had a wonderul view and was very comfortable.
We have also enjoyed the Casa Blanca's restaraunt which has delicious gormet food, extensive wine list and beautiful ocean view. We highly recomend the Casa Blanca and cannot wait to return next year!!!!
A Perfect Family Weekend
For the past 6 years our family, 12 in number, ranging in ages from 2 yrs to 77 years, have spent a perfect weekend at The Casa Blanca. We are able to get four adjoining rooms which gives us our own patio facing the beach. We are about 5 minutes away from the Boardwalk, 5 minutes from the warf, a 15 minute walk to downtown (for the younger members) and a constant view of the beach activities. Management allows us to Bar-B Que on one evening. The place is clean, television reception fine, staff very cooperative. It is like a mini-vacation for all of us. We look forward to our stay every year.
Casa Blanca Inn its OK
In March 2003, we had family coming from the midwest that wanted to stay near the beach, and wanted rooms right next door. They were actually conjoining rooms with a good view of the ocean. Great location. The room were very nicely decorated, clean, and each room was different. BUT I felt the rooms were very overpriced for off season rates! In one of the rooms the shower flooded the floor and it was apparant that it had been happening for quite some time. The floor actually was bowing from continual flooding. For 2 rooms, for 2 nights that came to a little under $700, I don't expect to see such poor upkeep. I believe that you could almost rent a beach house for a couple of nights for about what this place cost.
We checked in on Friday 5/2/03, stayed in room 32We had an unpleasant stay in this hotel. The roomsmelled musty, stains on the carpet, patches all over the cracked walls and tiles..No tissue paper. My husband and my little girl could not sleep all night long because you could hear the noise from another room..continous running the stairs in the middle of the night and banging the door. The worst of all..when we woke up at around 7:30 to take a shower and found out there was no water..the receptionist informed us to wait for another 30 + minutes. My husband was very irate about the whole thing that we had to shorten our vacation.
