Awesome day today... We got onboard 'Dolphin Seeker', the Fullers Hole In Rock & Dolphin Cruise. Our first stop was to pick up more passengers from Russell then head up through the Bay Of Islands where we saw some dolphins playing on a reef off the island of Motukiekie. (Or island 9 on your tour for those of you that are lost :) We also saw New …

We must have been absolutely buggered last night because we all slept in this morning! We barely checked out of our hotel on time! We had planned to head to the Bay Of Islands fairly early but due to our late start we didn't stop in to as many places on the way as we would have liked.

We left Auckland about 10am and headed north and …

... As the darkness set in we arrived in Dargaville, a small town, where we picked up some lovely steaks, veggies to roast and pastries for dinner and set off to find our lodge for the night! It was completely dark when we set off again which made the next part pretty tricky- we were warned that the road ahead of us might be closed due to flooding so we took it slow and as we approached we could see flashing orange lights with a big sign saying 'Road ...

... North to Cape Reinga, the Northernmost tip of New Zealand. We dropped off along the way to hit up a beach where there was a Green Peace Memorial to the Rainbow Warrior that Jade, who had recently been employed by Green Peace, was keen to see. But we got an amazing view of these ...

... 1 between 8 isn't enough when you've all been off sand boarding on the same trip...) a few of us ended up going back to the bar by the harbour. It was dark when we arrived which made identifying food interesting for those who were eating! But it meant we could do a bit of star gazing. Sure enough Orion's Belt was visible - that's about the only thing I ever see up there! Although this time I also saw the Sleeping Giraffe and the 6 sisters ...

Beautiful Mediterranean looking motel with a well equipped kitchen and close to the bay. The managers were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. We even got free wifi (500mb) although it didn't work on our last night.
