Beautiful Mediterranean looking motel with a well equipped kitchen and close to the bay. The managers were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. We even got free wifi (500mb) although it didn't work on our last night.

Äntligen framme i Nya Zeeland!

It was just on 5pm when we arrived at the DOC camp at Puriri Bay. What a perfect spot right by the water in a sheltered harbour. We’ll stay here for a few days and catch our breath; maybe a fish or two as ...

I officially started my NZ traveling yesterday as we made our way to the Bay of Islands. The Bay of Islands is 4 hours drive North of Auckland and I'm doing the Kiwi Experience travelling around NZ. The Kiwi Experience is a bus pass that takes you around NZ but is full backpackers wanting to explore but also party as well. It's a big coach and takes us to different places but we stop off and do things on the way.

I've made friends with three girls and they are absolutely lovely ...

We left Coopers Beach for the Bay of Island, stopping to a few places on the way down. We had again a lot of mist that day. It suited Janette, who could try to hide her sticky tape and bumps behind the fog (poor thing all damaged and patched up).

We had a house-sitting arranged for about ten days, via HelpX again, in Opua, in the middle of the Bay of Islands. It sounded good: taking care of the house and the dog during the Christmas period, while the owner ...

... same as Charlotte. And then there was Sophie who I will be travelling with for the full 24 days. Luckily, she is lovely and we bonded straight away over our love for food. We went down at 7pm to meet our guide, Jackson, and the rest of the group. Jackson gave us a little intro and went through tour details. He then told us that as we were staying on a boat hostel we would need to pack a small overnight bag for the next couple of days. After our meeting we ...
