... definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We recommend this tour to anyone. We have much appreciation for the hundreds of men who toiled at this remarkable work of art and expression of patriotism. To this day it is a reminder of what these great Presidents gave for the foundation of the U.S.A.

... ND (our next stop). This is a beautiful campground.
After hooking up and unhitching the car, we drove to the state capitol. This is a beautiful building with terrazzo floors, stained glass windows, marble staircases, and interesting murals. We also stopped at the war memorials adjacent to the capitol grounds.
We came back to the coach and crashed. We are tired already.
... one day. We lit the campfired, cooked some food and relaxed looking at the splendid stary night....until the sounds of the animals moving around us in the dark were just too loud to ignore them and we decided to move into the tent to sleep. In most cases we know its probably just squirrels, racoons or similar, but believe us...in the darkness and when they are close to the water drinking, they sound like huge mountain lions...so we tend to enter the tent soon after dark. Every building has its secrets. This capital is no exception. Sixty-six artisans were invited from Italy to work on the mosaics on the floors of the building. As the custom warrants, they would place their names on their work. The architect refused to let them mar the flooring. Instead each ...

Pierre, South Dakota, United States charleslamb1985... we walked the Presidential Trail, which is a 1/2-mile loop around the monument. Lastly, we visited the Sculptor's Studio which provides understanding how Borglum and his crew carved the sculpture from Black Hills granite. Next, we headed over to the Crazy Horse Memorial. If you think Mount Rushmore is big, think again! The Crazy Horse Memorial is a wonder of the world in progress; an entire mountain is metamorphosing into a 563 ft ...
Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, South Dakota, United States joann.hill12... fast when I came upon about a foot long snake smack in the middle of the road. I figured if I stayed in the midlle he could retreat in either direction like they tell you snakes will do. Not with this guy, when I got within a few feet of him he reared up as high as a foot long snake can and starting hissing and springing towards me. Well it was enough to convince me to ...
Pierre, South Dakota, United States greenvanartusaI started off and I was able to return the favor I had received the day before when I came across a couple of guys whose car had broken down on 94 and helped them get going again. My first main stop of the day was the Bismarck state capitol grounds. Called the "Skyscraper on the Prairie" http://www.realnd.com/capitolmap.htm I went in to check out the building and took the elevator up to the ...
