    6.00 am bright eyed and bushy tailed and really nice waking up in a comfy cozy cabin. After a quick wash and breakfast it was of on our adventure and tour round Mesa Verda just 10 minutes over the road from the campsite. We purchased our tickets and made our way up to the top a good hour drive and 7000ft elevation.The views were incredible as we drove up the steep and windy roads up to cliff palace were we paid $4 dollars for a guided tour of ...

    ... but they can never do justice to something like this. Most come back sometime and explore it close up - a trek would be ideal!

    Later on in the day we pass through Monument Valley - another awesome place of *********e mountains left in place after surrounding rock has been eroded away over the years. The shapes (monuments) were incredible - hope the photos do them justice!

    ... rain. I persisted and visited all three of the lakes up top; Ice Lake being by far the best of the three. Even with full cloud cover and rain, the lake was still a lovely blue.     Silverton, Colorado is on the Million Dollar Highway. As many times as we have been here, its always spectacular. The views are amazing despite the crazy drive. No guardrails and literally 1 foot from disaster. As if that was not enough, once in Silverton we took a dirt road that was very rough and went to Animas Forks, which is an old silver mining ghost town.
