Saturday, 12th July Today we set off on our sailing adventure to Low Islets. We chose to go with Sailaway, which was a little more expensive, but turned out to be worth it. National Park, this road was extremely windy and tight with signs to look out
for Cassowary, and there were recent sighting signs out too! Once out the other
side it was sugar cane as far as the eye could see. Into Port Douglas for a
quick look and drive around, it appears to be a very resorty area, but we did
find a car wash and gave the van a quick once over ...
Packed up around lunch time at the lake.
Headed back with a few quick tourist stops along the way.
Got home and unpacked in perfect timing to watch the bulldogs pull apart Collingwood which then we had to celebrate like we had won our own grand final.
Had the boys catch from Fridays fishing trip for dinner tonight, then we headed into the casino for a night out.
Turned out bigger then thought, with a late finish.
... that on a trip to the Cape you must make friends with people who own a boat so that you can really get out to fish. Excellent advice! We exchanged a half bottle of port for a boat trip out to a sand bar for an arvo of fishing with these four blokes. What a great day! Ben even caught a fish. It was a small grunter.....the noises that this fish made clearly reflected its name, it grunted loudly! ...
