... along the river. When we got into the water it was freezing. A guy had mentioned to us that it was probably around 71 degrees (f) I'm the springs but most likely 10 or so degrees warmer in the river. And were we glad for the increase in temperature when we hit the river. ... finally arrive at LeaAnn's beautiful home in Gulfport. She greats us with her adorable little pooch "Odie". We regroup for a few minutes and then go out for a nice salad for dinner at Lookout 49 in downtown Gulfport. We get a quick tour of the beach at Gulfport but it's dark and hard to see how beautiful it is in spite of the full moon reflecting on the water. ... Oh yes, I forgot to mention the cool Produce Market we found on the roadside. Lots of Florida grown citrus fruit plus locally grown tomatoes, cucumbers and all of that great stuff. The prices were great too.


Anyway, since we're pulling up stakes tomorrow, we hope to get over to Manateeville early and see what is up. Hopefully it will be sunny. It's my theory that the beasts should show up better in full sun. Only time will tell.

... so all week long, they were riding up and down the campground in the sun.

We also experienced something unexpected and not at all welcome during our stay...cold nights! Apparently, not all of Florida is treated equally in the climate department, and the Panhandle can get downright cold this time of year. Who knew?

We usually bring our own metal campware plates into restaurants with us, but today we forgot and by the time we knew that the food was going to be served on styrofoam it was out and in front of us, who knew they would serve on styrofoam IN the restaurant?
