After waking up in our 7th Motel of the trip we sampled the free breakfast although were a bit disappointed with only cereal and bagels as the options, after watching a bit of Maury (think American version of Jeremy Kyle) we were on our way to Seaside Heights on the coast of New Jersey. A desperate gamble
... Do we take the flight to Dover in the hope that we barely make the second 53-seat flight or that one of the zero-tentative flights will gain seats?
Yep. We took the flight to Dover. We really didn't have anything to lose since we decided if we were not on a flight to Europe in the next few hours, we were just going to go back home.

Fewer seats
... We have never tried to travel this early in the summer and now I know why. Unfortunately, the number of available seats never increased. I did get an interesting lesson in C-17 cargo and passenger manifesting. Apparently, there are regulations covering whether cargo is strapped-down or on a pallet and how close cargo can be to a passenger. Anyway, the short version ...
A day of rain
... br> We ate at a steakhouse where we were served by a Sicilian waiter. He was proud and bragged about all the times he had been in Germany and how he always visits when he goes to Europe. However, during our convesation he also mentioned he hates the German language, German road signs, and German kids. OK, nice talking to you.
