      The Jefferson Davis Memorial Site

Year 2, Day 127 - Today we drove the backroads from Tifton where our campground was and we sort of stumbled across the "capture site" of Jefferson Davis (and his party as they fled Richmond). This museum (built in 1939) is run by the county and is a bit remote, but it has a great amount of memorabilia to be viewed and it was quite nice. Along with the story of Jefferson Davis, the museum now includes artifacts from the ...

      Six Flags over Georgia!

Today we spent the morning in Six Flags over Georgia theme park! It was a brilliant place, with loads of thrill rides to enjoy :-) our favourite has to be Goliath, it was about 200ft high, and although it didn't go upside down, it was really really good fun! We also went on our first ever stand-up rollercoaster (yes you really did stand up the whole way around!). It was so ...

      Rain, rain,go away!!!

The rain continues! We thought it was stopping last night, but about 1 am it started up again, not as hard as before, but enough to still make it sloppy.

We got up early since the first seminar we wanted to go to was at 8 am and because we are about 40 miles out, we had to leave here about 7 am. So we got ready and drove to Perry. It was just sprinkling by the time we arrived. So first we learned some new things about our GPS. I took notes so now I need to check ...

      Safe travels

A travel blog entry by cruisinseniors on Mar 16, 2014

Today dawned cloudy on Grassy Pond, but it wasn't raining, however, as we traveled north, the rain began. We unhooked and hooked then pulled away from Grassy Pond about 10 am. The plan was to set up at the campground, pick up our stuff and then drive over to Andersonville for the afternoon.

It was only a 95 mile drive to Cordele and the GPS indicated we would be there about 11:30, so we had to do something to slow things ...

      A Dry Tavern?

After shaking off the Super 8 filth and a few more hours of driving our throats were dry and thus we decide to make a stop at the Historic Boone Tavern in Berea Kentucky. We were greeted by the hostess and expressed our need for a drink to which she replied "Sorry, this is a dry county." So naturally, we left and will not be heading back to Berea anytime soon. ...
