... the years in books and photos and you are actually standing there, all quite surreal. After lunch we had a one and half hour cruise sailing under the bridge and around the island of Alcatraz. Later we went on a four and half hour coach tour looking around the iconic sites including St Mary's cathedral built in 1971, Lands End and the twin Peaks which is 922 feet above sea level. Apparently the weather in this area is very unpredictable, one minute it is hot ...

    Day 15: San Francisco

... we got some breakfast before heading back to the city. We went to the curvy street (Lombard Street) and I actually drove down it. Then we went back to Twin Peaks to get a beautiful view of the whole city. It was really nice. It's almost like the "Mount Washington" of San Francisco. We left there and went to Golden Gate Park. We actually went to a science museum inside the park. We took a scenic route home - it ran along the coast and ...

We had an umbrella in our backpack with a curved hook, so Liam ran back to the bus to retrieve it, our bus was leaving so we left them the umbrella in hope they retrieved the shoe and the frisbee after we had gone. This was the highlight of the day for Liam. We got back to our hotel at 9pm, so we walked to Denny's and got a bite to eat before retiring to bed... Another big day planned tomorrow... Yosemite and a 6am ...

... Williams on the street in front, a simple 'I am job' on a stone being my personal favourite. On our last day of family fun before our parents flew home we visited Alcatraz, followed by a play in an old arcade to lighten things up a bit. Both were fun - obviously in different ways. The jail was interesting, thought provoking and gave us superb views back over the city and bridge. Looking at that city skyline every day from jail would not be easy, ...

... The alternative was sitting around for 4 hours in the cruise terminal lounge, which would not be great.

The weather has cooled down somewhat from 97F, with massively high humidity making it feel more like 110F, to a very chilly 70F. I have even resorted to wearing a cardigan, which I threw in my case at the last minute. People who know me would testify that I very rarely wear a cardigan, even in the depths of an English winter.
