... imagine that). There was nothing to see here that hadn't been thoroughly milked in Memphis. The experience here was simply the acknowledgement of the King's humble beginnings. We looked over the little two room shack where the King was born and where his twin brother Jessie was still-born. A 1939 Dodge Plymouth, the type the family used to get the **** out of Tupelo in 1948, was on display. There was even an example of an outhouse, which I thought was pushing ...

We arrived in Clarksdale, the home of the Delta Blues and Morgan Freemanīs club, Club Zero with not much of an idea of what the town had to offer, but it was in the travel guide and so we set about exploring.

... hasn't changed a lick. Next, it was on to Stax Records in South Memphis. Stax was the famous recording studio that developed new young artists in the late 50's thru the mid 70's. This museum details the early days and development of the "Memphis Sound" popularized by Stax artists such as Booker T. & the M Gs, The Staple Singers, Sam and Dave, Isaac Hayes, etc. Quite a musical legacy. We then hit the road for our next stop - Clarksdale, Mississippi. Only about 90 minutes south ...
