... lodge building. It got very cold just before the ceremony began.

  • They had an enormous wedding party - 9 each bridesmaids and groomsmen.
  • The bride's uncle led the ceremony, but called in a reverend to officiate the vows and do the pronouncement. I hadn't seen that before.
  • Everyone had a great time. You couldn't pull Vivi off of the dance floor.
  • Pictures to come.

... typical Urban America! It doesn't seem that Altoona was ever a big draw for African Americans fleeing poverty and segregation in the south.

I head back into town, going up one street and down the other. I will admit that the main cathedral is pretty impressive--and looks even moreso from a distance when you don't realize it's high on a hill.

Then I come down 11th street and... well... OK... It does look like some work has been done on ...

... has a contract for x number of years during which they pay fees for all sorts of things—ads, previews, etc. The film companies were also not that interested in drive-ins, because they only show any given film once a day (and sometimes that means two nights a week), so the royalties to the movie companies are quite low. A 20-screen indoor theater might have a blockbuster film on 6 ...
