On our way back to Chicago we also stopped at Lansing and Muskegon (on the shore of Lake Michigan across from Milwaukee). The small town of Muskegon boasts a WWII submarine museum. In the harbor, outside the museum, the 'USS Silversides' is moored. Displayed on the side of the submarine are small Japanese flags, each representing destruction of an enemy vessel.

... we listened to the Master share about the importance of respecting ourselves, others, and the space and time we occupy. He closed by exhorting us to make the most of every opportunity we have to train. Before inviting us out for food and conversation the Bjorquists shared about some of their school curriculum and blessed our kids with light saber swords and Huntley Kyukido t-shirts. ... payed my downpayment and am waiting to hear back about what school I will be placed at. Until then I have made all sorts of appointments for physical examinations and vaccinations. I also have a large amount of paperwork to get started on for background checks, Visa's, work papers etc. I will owe my final payment of $1,100 to CIEE once I get placed in a school, this doesn't include my plane ticket. So, until later then!

... had to limp all the way back home with a bloody, cracked nail, and bruised toe. However it is healing nicely! I scraped my ankle on some coral while snorkeling in Hawaii. I didn’t think it was that bad until I got out of the water an hour later and it was still bleeding. Coral carry a lot of bacteria and it got pretty infected. It is almost healed but I think I’ll be left with an ugly scar, boo!
