... view turned brown and flat. We drove through the city of Billings, Montana's capital and biggest city. It can only be described as ugly, obviously a key distribution and processing point for the surrounding farmlands and hugely industrial. Don't get me wrong, Montana is the most beautiful state we have driven through with stunning nature, craggy mountain ranges and prairie lands, the towns and cities however do not live up to the surroundings.
... a room that would fit all five of us so we stayed at the Americinn. It is a chain but we didn't feel at all left out of the old west feel and still got a giant room that had a king bed, two twin pull out couches and a whirlpool hot tub. Free breakfast too.

So we decided to go to our hotel, the Rough Riders hotel in Medora, to go someplace dry. Our hotel was once the hotel that Theodore Roosevelt stayed in when he came to visit Medora and the badlands. But it has been updated since then. Otherwise I don't know if I would have wanted to stay here. This hotel is beautiful. It definitely has a theme of Theodore Roosevelt.
