... morning, and we rode the couple miles through town easily. The next 9 miles were on I-94, but the shoulders were wide and pretty clean, there was no wind, and we hummed along at a decent pace. The scenery was interesting - conical hills of layered soils/rock of different colors, some of them wind-carved. Gradually it eased out into the rolling hills to which we had become accustomed.

The plan this morning was to get up at 5:45 and ride out by 6:30. We accomplished the first part, but then things got shaky. I (Ann) just didn't have any energy to ride. We each ate a banana and a pastry from the lobby (coffeecake or half-frozen donut), but that really didn’t help.
