... in a truck stopped to see that I was ok, I started to feel the cold. I explained to the man that it never gets this dark where I live and that I have never seen so many stars. He smiled and drove away. A few minutes later, I drove away myself.

... We took the 36 mile scenic loop drive through the south unit of the park, stopping along the way to hike some of the shorter trails. Though the landscape appears inhospitable and barren, we saw a variety of shrubs, grasses, and wild flowers as well as horses, buffalo, and prairie dogs. ... view turned brown and flat. We drove through the city of Billings, Montana's capital and biggest city. It can only be described as ugly, obviously a key distribution and processing point for the surrounding farmlands and hugely industrial. Don't get me wrong, Montana is the most beautiful state we have driven through with stunning nature, craggy mountain ranges and prairie lands, the towns and cities however do not live up to the surroundings.
