    ... But I spotted the HI hostel. This place was rickety and rustic but had a great vibe. So I booked into a dorm for two nights at $18 a night, value. I soon met some new friends and enjoyed a nice rest day which turned out rather wet.

    ... was a very smokey haze from all of the fires in the West. We were told that the jet stream brings in the smoke from the Northwest down into the valleys of the mountains. Even through the haze we could see the snow on the mountains and this is July!
