Cold nights makes one long for a little warmth and pampering, so tonight, seduced by the promise of an indoor pool and hot tub, we checked into the Days Inn in North Platte, somewhere in the middle of Nebraska.

... River accompanied us across Nebraska, but "River" is barely a proper description: Shallow, braided, meandering, and without much flow. Lots of wetlands along it and a surprising (to me) number of ponds especially considering the MILES of irrigation pipe sprayers. Puzzling. Windmills in the Sandhills area drew water for troughs for the cattle, though the cows seem to enjoy standing in The Platte itself.

... so far not done so long at once. They watched a movie that helped. We ended up catching up to the rain. We pulled into North Platte around 9:00 with a bunch of hungry kids. We wanted pizza, Pizza Hut it is! With being so late, dark, and calling for storms we decided a hotel was best! I don't think anyone complained! Super 8 gave us a good deal, had free cots and free breakfast! Perfect for us. A real bed felt ...
