We departed the Lowell area across Hwy 2 towards Western Massachusetts, entering the Mohawk Trail across the Berkshires. We were welcomed with beautiful color, muted by the rains, yet nothing like we have seen before. I shot some iPhone photos which are below. We looked for possible campsite but everything was shut down for RV's like us.

... the Berkshires and went for a great hike up monument mountain where we were rewarded with some stunning views before heading to our overnight resting spot at The Red Lion in Stockbridge. This is an amazing 18th century inn which felt so old school for America. It was a charming spot to unwind and the local Great Barrington Brewery make a lovely IPA. ... Now we have a car, we can stop at will (well almost) and can enjoy our own lunch choice. Another dose of retail therapy too - Steph skipped the tablecloths and opted for new jeans, while I thought of next summer and bought a pair of shorts from Sears! Exciting stuff, eh?
