Nita had a conference call this morning and was concerned the call would be dropped so we left around 10:45 with eta of 4:05. There was a lot of traffic but it flowed very well so we managed to shave off 1/2 hour again and arrived at 3:35. Nita worked all the time while I listened to some music and cursed the other drivers ;-)

Finally we cross the state line and enter California. We stop off to visit Lake Tahoe. Its ever so nice. Pristine emerald and blue water surrounded by pine trees. What a beautiful place.
These mountain roads are something else, with scenery that is just breathtaking. We dont get into Redding till after 7pm, and find this really nice RV park off the highway and out of town. Doesnt take long to set up the tent, while Gerry is already set up with her camper van.

The temperature had dropped some but it ...

    20-ish miles today.
I woke up alone. I was expecting to see my buddy Nordic Track catching up to me in the morning, I didn't start until around 8 am, but I'm guessing he stopped by the river 4 miles behind me. It was a pretty place to camp, but I always get the feeling in me that "Maybe, there is a better site up ahead?".,,,,1 hour later, my curiosity has taken me from good site to good site, and I can't decide where to sleep. ...

... crust and later characterized the site as "hell." The road to the summit was crazy-curvy with switchbacks galore and a major change in elevation and vegetation. We were all so impressed with Tom's driving! When we reached the summit, the view was amazing!
