This has been the winter that won't quit. And, it has been the year that I haven't been able to take my usual "sunny break trips." When we had another few inches of snow on April 8. I looked at the tracks left by early spring birds and comforted myself saying, it looks and feels like January but the "sunny break" is bound to be just days away.

While I wait I've been reading Rachel Naomi Remen's book "Kitchen Table Wisdom." I restarted my ...

are. The snow is deep and natural and powdery, but most days are so cold and
windy that getting out for more than just a few runs at a time is painful.

So I got in far less skiing that I had hoped, just one full

Although it took 11 hours to get from DC to Randolph, it was A LOT better than flying since we would still be waiting for our flight today I bet. We scooted out of DC just as THE BIGGEST STORM EVER was coming in. Didn't really see much snow at all on the way up but Amtrack did cancel all northbound trains the next day.
So you know how the train goes - sway sway, choo choo, read, sleep, eat, stand up and stretch - repeat. But it was a bit surprising ...

I am grateful I have not stopped "living” through this 9 month blip. When the cold winter wind hits me in the face I feel alive. And when the warm sun returns to shines on me, I'll feel alive then too. Treasure each day, right here, right now.
