      ... a giant neon Cowboy welcoming you to the closest casino, and if you cross into Nevada, it’s an hour earlier and also you can gamble your life away and then some. Cross back in to Utah, and it’s desolate and quiet, no lights; just a few motels along the highway. Eerie. Anyway, the hotel and this area is near the Salt Flats, a big car racing area, which Ken and Ryan got excited about, even though there was no racing at that time.

      ... layer of salt on top of muddy lake bed. Most of the flat is hard and dry, but there are still some spots where the mud is still wet and it's easy for your car to break the crust and get stuck in the soft mud.
