Pat & Ken joined us on our NJ water adventure. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Our boat was a 23' Pro-Line Sport named Lil Gracie II, was more of an off shore type boat but still comfortable for the four of us. Boating here was different than our other experiences as there were houses along the shores in the bays and rivers with hardly any undeveloped spaces. This was rewarding to see ...

          Moving North

A travel blog entry by tnanoble on Aug 21, 2015

We wake up and had decided it was time to move on from this weird caravan park/campground of a place. We are sick of the bugs at night, and sick of having to walk 500m to the toilet block every time. So we researched a new campground that was further North in New Jersey called "Allaire State Park".

So we pack our things up and end up leaving around 10am. We head North towards Allaire State Park with no reservation, ...

... campground but this might change in the next few years. There are hiking trails here and the best part is that the Allaire Village Historic Site is right next to the Park Office. At this time of year they are only open on weekends and charge $5 to park after Memorial Day, yet we parked in there and visitors are allowed and encouraged to walk around all the restored Howell Iron Works Company, Railroad, picnic area and its village. Interesting history! ...

... goes this Forest. It is also part of the Pinelands Natural Reserve. The bathrooms are older but they do have showers. We would return here if near the area again but it was so peaceful because during the week at this time of year there were only about five sites taken. Weekends they are very busy Memorial Day through Labor Day. Enjoyable ...
