Headed off from Nasville this morning after piking out last night. We went to grab some dinner at an Applebee's Bar & Grill before heading to a bar with live music near the motel, After a steak and shrimp with mashed potatos and a couple of Mango flavoured cocktails, I was all done in and could barely waddle my way back to the motel. Only drinking water and eating fruit for the rest of the trip. I ...

Bernheim Forest

Oh the wonders of nature and nature-stream restoration projects I volunteer on. Bernheim offers an abundance of programs for schools and families that educate and allow you to help conserve some nature!

Also, this park has many, many hiking trails. Yay hiking! We all know how much I love that. :)

The Land that molded Lincoln

... woods.  Except for the mostly paved roads  we probably turned the clock back at least 100 years or more.  Tiny farms, tiny towns rolling hills.  It looks like a cliche.  After completing the 100 mile trip, we get there with about 30 minutes to actually see the birthplace of Lincoln.  Its not anything too exciting, especially not worth the harsh road trip but we felt fulfilled  seeing the resized remade log cabin inside a ...

... flexible with change. Clearly flexibility is a necessary trait in my line of work. But the ironic thing is, I've found myself falling into routines on the road, especially when it comes to organizing my toiletries and how my clothes are arranged in the closet and where I set up my headphones and Bose portable IPod player. AHHHHHHHHHH!!! My IPod player, where was my IPod player? It was definitely not surrounded by my ...

... but reasonably clean. The whole area had been through a nasty ice storm, with many folks still without power. There was a boil water order for the general area. Filled up the truck and Bear with fuel, said goodbye to Star, and we went across the road to Shoney's to eat supper. Deb bought. Back to hotel for night.

Knob creek machine gun shoot

We leave the hotel and head to the range. We turn onto the range driveway and make our way over the one lane steel bridge which spans a small stream as we get closer our first sight is a warning sign . Now even more intrigued after the warning we pull into one of KCR's parking fields and park for the day. After getting our passes and the like we ...

check in

We check into the Econo lodge in Radcliff, its not a bad place I'd stay there again. After we dropped off our bags in the room we set out to check out this new area, we started by heading out down the Dixie highway towards the gun range just to get an idea of where to go in the morning, along the way we passed the famous Fort ...

day 47- Arkadelphia to Elizabethtown, KY

... between the interstates ran through a number of small towns, so that was slower than expected. Then, Charlie noticed on the the map that there was a state park/wildlife preserve a ways out of our path but not impossible, so we turned off. Reelfoot Lake was created by an earthquake in 1811 (how cool it that, that a lake has a known birthday?) and is a beautiful spot filled with cypress. There were ...
