Today was rainy but decent. I saw the prettiest country side of my life today in Canada. A lot of people told us this route wouldn't be as nice as the route through Edmonton but they LIED!!! This route was way prettier. Most of our trip TO Alaska was farms...this route had a lot of farms but they were nestled in amazing valleys and mountain passes. The mountains here are so green ...

... between the forests. We soon cross into Idaho and pacific time. This time of year brings out all the construction crews. Today is no different. On the way down a 6% grade for five miles Ed is driving in a concrete barriers single lane. Not fun. Luckily there is light traffic. The city of Coeur d'Alene is in a beautiful setting on a lake. Hiked a crazy river trail in the morning, made Rainy Pass at 5 pm and were driven in to a wonderful world. The World of the Waylands. Thanks so much guys, too kind. We will return to trail tomorrow morning and start our final approach to the finish line. Another 60.77 miles and we will reach a monument on a border. It is such a unique feeling to see the conclusion of something you have been working towards for so long. We have done it. We are doing it. We are ...

... just below. What feats of engineering and construction genius! At the Gorge Dam we saw chinook salmon getting ready to spawn and the beautiful gardens and falls surrounding the dam. It was a perfect evening for a campfire, and we grilled and ate our dinner outside as two mule deer munched on some apples just a few yards away from us. We're planning to move on to Chelan tomorrow-just 60 miles south. It's been three weeks since we left home. Pretty hard to ...

... the bubbly brought the evening to a close. Thurs was a late start and it appears going forward we are going to be challenged in the mornings with wake up rhythms ranging from 5 am thru 9:30 am. Two hours walking the town and taking in the history of a mining town was exhausting so back to the campground for a Jeff's special salad and a drink. At five pm drove 10 miles to another small town - Twisp - where a fairly modern pub had the Seattle/Green ...
