      We left Ventura early, drove through my old stomping grounds in the San Fernando Valley to San Bernadino and took I-15 north. It was very windy and rainy over Cajon pass. We decided to stop in the high desert of Apple Valley for a few days as we noticed the weather was in the 70s, something we had been looking forward to.       ... hiking because of the numerous "No Trespassing" signs, but we went anyway. After crossing the gate, we walked for about 10 minutes until we reached a dam.
