... night. We found a phone book and discovered 7 or 8 families living in Livingston and nearby towns with the Last name of Gibbons. We weren't sure if we were related and Greg was anxious to get to the smokey mountains. It was exciting to walk in the footsteps where Grandpa Gibbons walked and to see where the Gibbons name has its roots. Well we just changed time zones and it is getting late, so we'll talk later, have a great day and God Bless you the ggibbofam

Albany, Kentucky, United States fcbsantiago... weather was perfect for hiking. 53 degrees and sunny. Along the way Paige climbed a rock wall for $10 (although I don't know if she made Jason pay). The trail is mostly flat and then there is a 500 foot climb over about a mile and then you come to a great overlook of the forrest and the river. We stopped there for a bit and finished the trail. Back at the cars we played a little frisbee and then decided to do the 1.3 mile (each way) hike to the sunset overlook. Even though ...
Oneida, Tennessee, United States stacyb17... whole town seem to be having a sale. The traffic was heavier here and lots and lots of people parked along side the road. Once we got on I 71 it was smooth sailing through Cincinnati and onto I 74 to Indainapolis for the races. Once we got settled into our hotel room, we took a trip down to the race track to see where everything was before it got dark. There were lots and lots of people ...
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States funmiles... we headed out for dinner at a nice steak house. They had very good food. Dinner was a treat for Toby after taking such good care of his angels and driving them around all day. Once back at the motel again, it was time to repack the car with our goodies so we had room for our suitcase in the morning. Tomorrow we will be separating and Hubby and I will be heading north to Indianapolis for the races. Our last big adventure before we head for home.
Frankfort, Kentucky, United States funmiles... and gloating over each others purchases and relaxing we headed out looking for dinner. Frankfort is pretty spread out, and downtown - or at least the section we ended up in was all closed down for the night and we didn't see any restaurants there anyway. Back towards the motel we stopped at a fast food restaurant. After eating, we stood around in the parking lot watching the heat lightening off in the distance. That was quite a display. Tomorrow promises to be another big shopping day.
Frankfort, Kentucky, United States funmiles... to a small open paved park area. There was a large waterfall at one end and both sides were lined by the old brick walls from the neighboring buildings. The walls were covered with vines and there were thousands of birds flying in and out of the vines. We weren't sure if they were feeding babies in their nests or if they were picking bugs off all the vine leaves. It was hard to tell, some seemed to got in deeper than the others. I suppose they could've been doing both.
Harrodsburg, Kentucky, United States funmiles... sales. Hubby was getting a learning experience in the 'Southern Language'. I was doing a little translating in the beginning - couldn't help but snicker! By the time we had reached the third sale he pretty much had the southern lingo down and could understand what was being said. Wasn't long before we would pull into the sales and I would go shop and he would go visit with the old guys/gals sitting around trying to ...
Danville, Kentucky, United States funmilesWe were up and on the road by 11:30am. Since checkout was at noon and we didn't have far to go to get to Danville Kentucky we were taking our time. No reason to rush, the sales don't start till Thursday. We left I64 at exit 48 and headed south on Hwy 151 to interchange with Hwy 127. Up and down Hwy 127 is the Longest Yard Sale Route. Once we were on Hwy 127 we started seeing vendors setting up their sales out in the fields along the highway ...
Danville, Kentucky, United States funmiles... pictures. This section of the Ohio River was pretty big. There was lots of farm and grazing and forest land on the Kentucky side of the river. Couldn't see much for beach area, we were up on a cliff looking down at the river. There happened to be a barge working it's way down river. You could hear faint music coming from the barge as it got closer. There was also a house somewhere below us that had music playing. It just added to the scenery. I couldn't make it out, but it had ...
