... an evergreen forest. Around lunchtime we headed downhill, found the creek, walked a bit more to the south, and had lunch. The girls were in and our of the water, Sundae rolled in the grass, and we all enjoyed our refreshment. We were able to pick up the trail all the way back to the parking lot.

We slept in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska last night and back tracked to Lake Minatare after breakfast. We saw trees growing in the Lake. Then, on to the Scotts Bluff National Monument. It's not one bluff but a series of them, a major landmark to the pioneers on the Oregon Trail. There is 1.6 mile drive to the top of the highest bluff, with 3 tunnels.
