Today was the last full day with our grandpa. We picked him up again at about 2 but again we got caught up talking that we didn't leave until about 3:30pm. Once we decided to leave, we thought about having a look at Route 66 which was 40 minute ...

We head to Days Inn when we get to Socorro as we have a voucher for a cheap nights stay from a discount vouchers booklet picked up ...

... not a likeable place in many ways firstly the horrible smell of gas which we later learnt was from fracking. Secondly the inflated motel prices due to this fracking and we ended up paying way more here for accommodation than in any previous place. And we asked at loads of motels and e en though they were very empty the staff had no. Inclination what so ever to negotiate prices. We ended up paying $170 for the two rooms. And thirdly, the town ...

... and I headed south toward the University. We did however, make a quick pit stop in the town of Los Lunas, just outside of Albuquerque to get lunch at the town's Sonic! Being from Washington State where it seems to be in a constant rain storm, we don't really have any Sonics, and I've already seen three! After our quick lunch break we headed onward to Socorro, which is about 75 miles south of Albuquerque.

        While driving ...
